Fundraising

Club Fundraising Activities
  • Rotary Ball – The Rotary Ball was held December 15, 2007 at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center. This is the Club's major fundraising activity of the year. Funds are raised 3 ways: ticket sales, silent/live auction, and bar proceeds. Tickets for the event are $130 per couple or $65 for an individual, and the event is open to both members and non-members. It includes dinner, dancing, and much fun for all. Auction items are donated by local businesses. Club members donate wine and liquor that is then old by the glass during the event.
  • MUMFest Banner Sales – For several weeks prior to MUMFest, colorful banners are displayed on the lampposts throughout downtown New Bern. Our Club sells these banners for the Swiss Bear Downtown Revitalization Corp., the sponsor of MUMFest, with a portion of the proceeds going to our Club. The banners sell for $150.
  • Golf Tournament – Held each year at River Bend Golf & Country Club. Click here for information.
  • Harlem Ambassadors Basketball Gamecoming on March 11, 2009
  • Wine Tastingcoming in Spring 2009

Recipients of Support
  • Kicks for Kids – Each year our Club, in conjunction with the Athlete's Foot Store, provides approximately 325 children from Craven County Schools with new shoes. The children are recommended by teachers from their school. As the children arrive, Rotary members help take foot measurements and assist the children in selecting a pair of shoes. We hope that we can raise the number of children receiving shoes annually over the next few years.
  • Read to Me Literacy Project – provides each new mother at Craven Regional Medical Center with a “reading infants bag”. The bag contains a onesie, a children’s Golden Book, and information on the value of reading to infants. The Rotary Club purchases all material, assembles 1000 packets and delivers them to the hospital for distribution as our new readers arrive. The Rotary Club would also like to thank Mike Davis with Confidential Records Management for providing storage and delivery of the project materials. We also thank ECIM Pediatrics for their major sponsorship of $4,000.
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters
  • Guardian Ad Litem
  • Promise Place (formerly the Community Coalition Against Family Violence)
  • The Club provides money for other needs, such as scholarships, and will distribute funds when needs arise, such as natural disaster relief in our area as well as other states (Florida hurricanes), and even abroad (Tsunami relief).
